A minimum of six individuals have been killed and 53 wounded when an explosion rocked a busy pedestrian road in central Istanbul.
Ambulances rushed to the scene on packed Istiklal Avenue, which police shortly cordoned off. The world within the metropolis’s Beyoglu district had been crowded with buyers, vacationers and households.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that preliminary indicators pointed to a “terror” assault.
“It may be flawed if we are saying for positive that that is terror, however in line with first indicators, … there’s a odor of terror there,” Erdogan stated at a televised information convention.
